Kathmandu: CPN-UML MP Rekha Kumari Jha's attempt to attack Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota in the House of Representatives on Friday has failed.

Amid UML's protests, Speaker Sapkota said that she was holding a sitting of the parliament. Jha, who is a member of the House of Representatives from Rautahat, said that she tried to attack Sapkota as she was angry with him.

Jha, who is also a member of the Education and Health Committee, is involved in politics from the UML's student organization Aneraswabu. Firstpost's brief conversation with Jha, who is also the Union Secretary at UNRWA, about his failed attack:

Did you feel a little angry at today's meeting?

Yes, You see, the country has rules, it has laws. Parliament has a rule. There is a provision in the Parliamentary Rules that even if an MP protests, it should be considered a protest.

But you tried to attack?

You see, I am angry because I did not hear our protest. If anyone protests, then the speaker should think. You have to think again and again, not once. Not only that, protest is protest.

Is it against the rules of Parliament to engage in violent activities again?

You see, I pushed the mic. There we are also pushed by the dignitaries. Not at all. I accept discipline. Chairman KP Sharma Oli said stop.

What would you do if you didn't stop?

If he hadn't stopped, I would have hit the speaker on the head. Opposition is protesting. Should the Speaker move the meeting forward? You ask me and you are angry?

What did Oli say to you?

"Leave it now," he said. When he said no, I agreed. I also accept discipline.

Was Oli close to you?

He was close to me. After the party president said so, I did not disobey. This is not a matter of anger. How is the speaker Opposition is protesting, will the meeting move forward?
