Young people, come and make a country

In a country with a large number of young people, the country's economy is booming. A study conducted in different countries of the world has confirmed this. If this study is to be applied to Nepal as well, it will not be difficult to achieve the goal of a prosperity that Nepal has set. Young people can run the country's development and economy. By identifying potential areas for prosperity and using them wisely, the graph of development will not take long to grow. The population is both a means and an end to development. And the younger generation within it is the driver of development. 40.35 percent of Nepal's population, or 17 million young people. This manpower is enough for the development of the country.

The most creative, dynamic, time-consuming, and wanting time in human life is at a young age. As the country is now in a state of demographic advantage, it is necessary to mobilize the young manpower in the nation-building campaign by empowering them. However, when giving responsibility, youth is not given importance in the party, government, or any other field. Their qualifications, abilities, and experience are devalued. Due to this, hundreds of youths are going for foreign employment by mortgaging their farms saying that they have not got employment opportunities in the country. Those who go for a study run away. Those in the country are also very unemployed. Those who have created opportunities themselves are insignificant. The role of youth in politics is not interfering.

In many countries of the world, youth leadership is effectively mobilized for nation-building. However, youth leadership in Nepal does not seem to be easily accepted. In the past, when education, health, political, economic, and social rights were not ensured, the youth did not have access to many areas. At that time, no proper initiative was taken to solve their problems. Despite the political changes in the country now, the problem of youth is the same. The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Youth Council is currently working to mobilize the youth for development and prosperity in the country. However, the ministry and the council have not been able to stop the flow of young people abroad due to unemployment.

Different countries have their own interpretations of youth. In Bangladesh, the age group of 15-30 years is considered young, while in India the age group of 16-29 years, and in China, the age group of 18 to 35 years is considered young. Nepal's National Youth Policy, National Youth Council Act 2072 defines the age group of 16 to 40 years as a youth. Although the group covers about half of the country's population, the government has not been able to make good use of it. Seventy percent of Nepal's 22-28 age group youth go for foreign employment daily. However, other countries have reduced the unemployment rate by giving proper places to the youth. This process has had a positive impact on the development of those countries.

Issues of youth mobilization and participation in development are mentioned in the National Youth Policy. The government has also adopted various policies to achieve the mentioned objectives. The policy states that programs will be conducted to make the youth realize the basic principles and values of the nation, nationality, and human rights to develop the youth as a vehicle of change and a catalyst for sustainable development. The only way to draw conclusions is to look at the policies issued by the government. The condition of the youth in our country is not weaker than that of the so-called developed ones. But ironically, the policies mentioned and formulated are still limited to paper. Young people should also be able to seek their rights. Young people are not only future partners but also present partners. Therefore, to make the campaign for a prosperous Nepal meaningful, we should focus on mobilizing the youth in all the mechanisms of the state.
