'Vaccine is the main way to fight the epidemic, we will reach the manufacturer if necessary'

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is fully convinced that the management and distribution of vaccines against Corona is the main way to fight the epidemic.

Addressing the Kantipur Economic Summit 2021 through virtual media on Sunday, he said the government was working on a strategy for immediate, medium, and long-term economic recovery against COVID-19.

He said, "On the one hand, we will reach out to every vaccine manufacturer in the world by taking all possible measures if necessary for vaccine management.

He said that a total of 7.8 million people, including 3.2 million who have been fully vaccinated so far this week, have been vaccinated with at least the first dose and up to 367,000 people have been vaccinated daily. Apart from the 18 million vaccines that have already arrived in Nepal, at least another 10 million vaccines will be delivered by September. Besides, the government has promised to vaccinate all the eligible citizens by next April, said Prime Minister Deuba.

"In addition, as head of government, I want to reassure everyone that our current strategy against covid is based on the advice of scientists and health experts," he said.

Prime Minister Deuba said that the basic policy of running the post-vaccination economy would focus on maintaining macroeconomic stability and formulating appropriate relief programs.

Last year, interest rates were also reduced due to a slowdown in economic activity and lower demand for loans. Due to this, there was some relief for the entrepreneurs doing business with loans. He said that the government will focus on how to stop the uncontrolled rise in interest rates on the one hand while protecting small investors and entrepreneurs and solving the problems of small and medium enterprises through various targeted programs.
