Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has initiated proceedings against two lawmakers of Lumbini state for supporting the four-party alliance.
According to UML Whip Bhumishwar Dhakal, the action was taken after Nawalparasi MP Ajay Shahi and then CPN (Maoist) candidate Vimala Wali signed a petition demanding the formation of a new government.
Dhakal has asked Shahi for a written explanation while Wali has already submitted the explanation sent by party president KP Oli, he said.
Dhakal said that the process of action was initiated after MP Wali was asked for an explanation but did not get a satisfactory answer.
UML's boycott means that it has become a non-departmental minister in the government of the royal four-party alliance present at the special session of the state assembly. He had won the election from Nawalparasi West-1B by signing a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel on April 3 and withdrew the next day.
