Nepali Congress Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi has suggested President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Leader Ram Chandra Poudel, and Krishna Prasad Sitaula join the government by handing over the responsibility of running the party to others. At a meeting of office-bearers held at Deuba's residence on Wednesday, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi made the suggestion to Poudel, Sitaula, and Deuba (elected as president).
After it became impossible to hold the party's 14th general convention within the constitutional time limit, the office-bearers met to look for alternatives. I urge the three leaders to run the government now. We are now running the party together with other aspirants for the chairmanship. '
Chairman Deuba is now also the Prime Minister. Nidhi had said that all the three leaders should work towards making the government successful by giving some responsibility to Poudel and Sitaula. Nidhi had proposed to run the party together with himself, Shashank Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, and Shekhar Koirala. Earlier, in a meeting of leaders close to Deuba, Nidhi had requested to give him the responsibility of running the party.
"As I am now the vice-president, give me the responsibility of running the party. You should focus on running the government," the source said, quoting Nidhi as saying. One of the participants informed that if Nidhi does not give himself acting chairman, he will give it to others who have faith. Former vice-president Gopalman Shrestha had said that both the KP Oli government and the party, which came to power with a two-thirds majority, had failed to hold on to the proposal. He also urged Deuba to give the responsibility of the party to his confidant.
Mutual agreement
Top leaders of the Nepali Congress have failed to reach an agreement on the new schedule of the party's 14th general convention, active membership, and organizational integration. Although the top leaders seem to agree that the 14th General Convention, which is scheduled to take place on September 3, is no longer possible, it is yet to be decided when.
The Congress convened a meeting of the Central Committee on Thursday to discuss the issues including the new schedule of the General Convention. However, in the meeting of the top leaders, other parties including leader Poudel said that active membership was distributed against the rules and regulations and proposed to look into the issues decided by the investigation committee. Similarly, Poudel's party has also raised questions about the organization's integration. Poudel had a 15-point view on active membership since the organization's integration.
However, the establishment party has rejected the proposal of other parties including Poudel. Nidhi, a coordinator and deputy chairperson of the organization integration committee was of the view that the issues decided by consensus should not be reopened. The committee had informed the leaders to submit the report at the meeting of the Central Committee on Thursday.
Similarly, Ramesh Lekhak, coordinator of the active membership scrutiny committee, argued that the issue would never be resolved as the issue was settled again. He informed that committee members Pradip Poudel and Jeevan Pariyar were not ready to open the membership of Bara and Saptari.
Stating that the top leaders will resume discussions at 11 am on Thursday before the meeting of the Central Committee, Poudel said, "Some issues have not been resolved yet. There is talk of living again tomorrow. ' He said that the investigation of active membership dispute should be transparent. "First, the membership dispute had to be resolved and the schedule of the convention could be discussed," he said.
General Convention before the tenth

He said that a lot of work has been done to investigate the active membership and there were disputes in some places. The establishment party is ready to move forward based on the active membership of the 13th General Convention in those places where the membership dispute could not be resolved. At a gathering near Deuba, participants expressed dissatisfaction with Poudel's role and claimed that it was not possible to hold a general convention during the growing coronavirus.
