NRB is bringing an arrangement that mobile numbers cannot be tested in the wallet more than three times

Kathmandu. As the issue of digital wallets being used as a means of disclosing personal privacy comes to light, NRB has decided to tighten it. Earlier, Tekpana had published news last Thursday saying that ' Digital Wallet of Nepal has become an app that violates privacy like' TrueCaller '.

If you need to know who owns a number, you can go to the digital wallet and look through the 'Send Money option. Of course, the feature is provided by the service provider for the convenience of the user.

The purpose of the service provider is to make it easy for the user to make sure that the money he is sending is going to the recipient.

Tekpana had written about this saying that the feature provided for the convenience of the user has been misused recently.

Currently, the Wallet app is being used to get official information about the name of a certain mobile number. In some cases, the police themselves have used this weakness of the wallet, a police source told.

With the publication of the news that wallets are a means of obtaining personal information, NRB is preparing to tighten the privacy of wallet service providers.

"We have studied the issue," said Bhuvan Kandel, head of the digital payments department at Rashtra Bank. But, the problem that has arisen is certainly important in terms of privacy. We also discussed this with the service provider. He said that this feature has been made available for the convenience of the user.

He further added that the service providers have already taken steps to address the issue of such misuse.

This means that if a user goes to 'Send Money' through his wallet five times and fills in all the details and only 'verifies' at the end, the service provider has stopped such service.

Now, NRB has come forward with a plan to reduce the number of times from five to three times.

"We've discussed reducing five times to three times now," Kendall said. NRB expects that the misuse of this feature will be reduced after this.
