In one year, three people went missing in Kaligandaki and one died


Three persons have gone missing after drowning in the Kaligandaki River in a week in Baglung district. According to the District Police Office, Baglung, two youths who went for swimming at Nirayaghat in Baglung Municipality-1 went missing last Thursday.

Abhishek BK, 13, of Baglung Municipality-4 and Yama Bahadur, 13, of the same place are also missing. Two of them were swept away by Kaligandaki while they were swimming with four friends. Their search is ongoing.

Police have mobilized a team and are searching for them. Relatives of the missing teenagers including 14 people including 7 policemen of Disaster Management Gulm and 7 security personnel of District Police Office are searching for the missing persons. Police are also conducting search operations from other districts. According to the police, there was a problem in the search operation as the flow of Kaligandaki increased during the rainy season.

On Monday, a woman who lost her mental balance jumped from Nirayaghat to Kaligandaki. According to Iqbal Hawari, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Baglung, Tika Thapa, 50, of Titang, Baglung Municipality-9 went missing on Monday. Police said that they came to know that the woman was taking mental illness medicine. The slippers he was wearing have been found on the banks of the river. Family sources said that he had fled.

A 20-year-old girl died while swimming in 7 Resh in Kathekhola village municipality of the district on Tuesday. According to the District Police Office, Baglung, a local Man Kumari Karki drowned while swimming in a river near her house. The locals found him drowning in the river while searching for him. The deceased has been identified as a class 12 student of Bhimsen Secondary School.
