Demand for hospital monitoring to treat corona infection

Morang: The lawmakers have demanded the formation of a monitoring team saying that the health institutions and hospitals treating corona-infected patients have been charging high fees and neglecting the treatment.

Speaking at a meeting of the state assembly on Sunday, the lawmakers made such a demand.

Radha Thapa, state MP of the opposition Janata Samajwadi Party, said that the hospital beds were being filled due to the recent increase in corona infection. "We should form a monitoring team to regulate the treatment of the infected due to negligence and high fees," she said.

Responding to a question raised by lawmakers, Social Development Minister Usha Kala Rai urged all to adopt health safety measures as corona infection is on the rise in the state.

"The government has been doing its best to treat the coronavirus," she said. She said that arrangements are being made to send 2/2 specialists and medical officers to each district hospital. "We have also increased the salary allowance for doctors to stay in the district hospitals," said Minister Rai. "We have increased the salary allowance by 300 percent in the Himalayan district, 250 percent in the hills, and 200 percent in the Terai."

She said that a budget of Rs 4 million has been sent to recruit nurses and paramedics at the rate of six in each district. She said that arrangements have been made to send B-class ambulances and hearse vehicles to each district hospital. Minister Rai said that a call center will be set up in the ministry by mapping the ambulance and connecting the GPS system in each ambulance and the number of the call center will be affixed to every household in the state.
