CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that an alliance has been formed to overthrow the popular government.

Speaking at a meeting of the standing committee of the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation in Lalitpur on Monday, he said that the current government was formed by an unholy alliance and not by a democratic path.

"The current government has been formed in an unholy alliance, not in a democratic way," he said at the meeting. It is an alliance formed to overthrow the popular government.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Janata Samajwadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav, and Rashtriya Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC are in the ruling coalition.

A similar meeting has proposed to amend the constitution so that only the party chairman and general secretary can be elected.

A standing committee member said that the proposal would be tabled for discussion at the central committee meeting today.

"Now only the chairperson and the secretary-general are elected in the general convention. The remaining posts will be nominated by the chairperson, 'said the standing committee member.' The proposal goes to the central committee. It is presented in the Legislative Assembly on behalf of the Central Committee.

If the proposed legislation is passed, only the chairperson, secretary-general, and central members will be elected.

In the current constitution, the UML has a provision to elect 5 vice-presidents, a general secretary, 2 deputy general secretaries, and 5 secretaries along with the president.
