Two people have been killed in two separate incidents in the district. One person drowned while swimming in the river and another died when a car hit a scooter.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, a car (Ba 19 Cha 7986) heading towards Hetauda from Bhandara on the East-West Highway at Jhurjhure in Rapti Municipality-3 had hit two scooters coming from the opposite direction. Aarush Adhikari, a five-year-old resident of Khairhani Municipality-12, died while undergoing treatment in the accident.
The father of the driver of the same scooter, Rajkumar Adhikari, 35, of Pradesh no. The injured have been identified as Nishan Bhattarai, 18, of Ratnanagar Municipality-15 and Santosh Pokharel, 20, of Ratnanagar Municipality-15. He is undergoing treatment at the College of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Bharatpur. The condition of the injured is stable, police said.
Similarly, another youth drowned while swimming in Madi's Riu river. The deceased has been identified as Hikmat Shahi, 21, of Kharkunath village in Humla district, according to the Area Police Office, Madi.
According to the office, he was studying at Diwakar Memorial Technical School in Madi Municipality-6 when he went missing after drowning in the river. The body of the missing Shahi was found in Riu Khola in Madi Municipality-3. His body has been brought to Bharatpur Hospital for autopsy
