The Supreme Court has ordered the government to appear with the decision and plan documents related to the Kaligandaki diversion project.

A bench of Justice Tej Bahadur KC has directed the government to appear before it on July 19 to discuss the interim order along with the project decision and on-site planning documents.

Advocate Tulsiram Pokharel had also filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking an interim order to stop the Kaligandaki diversion project after the government set up an office in Butwal to move the project forward.

Hearing the writ petition, the bench of Justice KC did not issue an interim order but called for discussions with both the parties on July 19 for an interim order.

It has also demanded a written reply from the government on the reasons for moving ahead with the project.
