The outbreak of pests in paddy crop

Lamjung: An outbreak of thorny insects has started appearing in the paddy crop planted in Raina's Municipality. An outbreak of insects has started appearing in the paddy crop planted in June.

Vijay Shrestha, chief of the agriculture branch of Raina's Municipality, said that the outbreak of thorny Khapte Hispa has started in paddy, which is the main food crop of the municipality. This is after an outbreak of insects within a month of transplanting.

According to the information given by the farmers, there has been an outbreak of insects in the area including the three-tiered hotspot of Raina's Municipality. Shrestha said that the municipality has provided information about the damage caused by insects and their control.

The adult insects have blue and black thorny wings and white streaks can be seen on the damaged leaves, said Agriculture Branch Chief Shrestha. He said that the insects could dry the seedlings and destroy the rice crop by eating the leaves and pods.

Branch chief Shrestha said that if flowers are seen on the tops of the leaves to control the insects, the tops should be cut off and destroyed. Similarly, it has been requested to collect water in the field and destroy the water in the field. Shrestha said that if the outbreak is severe, it can be controlled by using chlorpyrifos mixed in water as a last resort.
