The main opposition CPN (UML) has also blocked the Karnali state assembly meeting on Sunday.

UML has been obstructing the parliament saying that three UML MPs Amar Bahadur Thapa, Kurmaraj Shahi, and Nanda Singh Budha have not returned from the government.

Despite the agenda to discuss the annual budget of the fiscal year 2078/79 brought by the state government, the budget brought by the government on June 20 has not been discussed yet due to the continuous obstruction of the UML.

As soon as the meeting started on Sunday, UML MPs got up and obstructed the meeting. UML MP Padam Rokay said that the house had to be blocked continuously due to unconstitutional steps taken by the state government. "Our party has the same demand. Until the government corrects its mistakes, the proceedings of the House cannot move forward," Rokay said.

Speaker Raj Bahadur Shahi has adjourned the meeting till 2 pm on July 12 as UML did not take the seat even after MP Rokay spoke. UML has been objecting to the attempt to keep the same party in the ruling party and the opposition in the House.

UML has stated that it will not allow the parliament to function until Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development Thapa, Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Shahi and Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Budha leave the government. Prakash Jwala, along with Thapa, Shahi, and Budha, had given a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi on April 15.

After giving a vote of confidence to the Chief Minister by crossing the floor, the UML had taken action against him. However, the Supreme Court had restored the four-member parliamentary seat on June 10.

Since then, the UML has been demanding the removal of three lawmakers from the government. But the ministers are adamant that they will not leave the government immediately. Due to this internal dispute of UML, the House has been blocked since last June.
