Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who became the Prime Minister of the country for the fifth time, was born in The incident took place in Asigram VDC, Ward No. 5 of Savik of Dadeldhura district on June 13, 2003.

Deuba completed his primary education at Asigram Primary School near the village and completed his lower secondary education at Mahendra Higher Secondary School in Dadeldhura. He got his secondary education from Sitaram Higher Secondary School, Doti. Deuba had been involved in Nepali Congress politics since his school days.

Deuba is immersed in politics inspired by BP Koirala, the founding leader of the Nepali Congress. He has been continuously active in the democratic movement of Nepal since the political developments of 2017 BS. He is the first elected president and founding member of the Nepal Students Union.

Deuba, who became a founding member of the Far Western Students' Union in 2022 BS and is dedicated to the democratic movement, is a founding member of the Nepal Students Union (NSU), a sister organization of the Nepali Congress, and the first elected president of the NSU.

He became the president of the Nepali Union from 1 September 2028 BS to 29 March 2036 BS. Deuba holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a law degree from Tribhuvan University. He also did research fellows at the London School of Economics, a prestigious educational institution in the United Kingdom, in 1988-89.

Deuba first became a central member of the Nepali Congress in 2048 BS. V.S. Deuba, who held the post of Home Minister from 2048 BS to 2051 BS, was elected Prime Minister three times from 2052 BS to 2061 BS.

He became the Prime Minister for the first time from 26 September 2052 to 26 February 2053. After that, he was the Prime Minister for the second time from 7 July 2058 BS to 18 September 2059 BS. On 18 September, then King Gyanendra dismissed him from office. Deuba became the Prime Minister for the third time on June 7, 2006. However, King Gyanendra dismissed Prime Minister Deuba again on 19 January 2061, saying he was incompetent.

Deuba was the Prime Minister for the fourth time from June 8, 2074 BS to March 15, 2074 BS. The Deuba-led government had paved the way for the implementation of the constitution by holding three-tier elections.

When he was the Prime Minister, he brought the concept of Karnali-Dalit-Women-Janajati-Madhesh (Kadamjam) to bring the backward areas, marginalized classes, women, Dalits, Janajatis, and Madhes into the mainstream of the national development process. Similarly, Kamaiya Mukti was declared during her tenure and various commissions such as the National Women's Commission, Adivasi Janajati Commission, and Dalit Commission have been formed for the upliftment of special classes and communities.

Deuba became the president of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), which was formed in 2059 BS after the split within the party. He became a senior leader after the unification of the Congress and the Congress (Democratic) before the first Constituent Assembly election in 2064 BS. Deuba, who has been active in the politics of the Nepali Congress for six decades, was elected president from the 13th General Convention held in February 2008.

Deuba has been winning all the general elections since 2048 BS from his home district Dadeldhura. He had won the general election in 2048 BS, the mid-term election in 2051 BS, and the general election in 2056 BS after the restoration of democracy.

Similarly, Deuba was elected from Dadeldhura and Kanchanpur-4 in the first Constituent Assembly held in 2064 BS and from Dadeldhura and Kailali-6 in the second Constituent Assembly held in 2070 BS.

He was the Vice President of Socialist International from 2008 to 2012. He has been the International Vice President since 2013. During the democratic movement, he has spent 10 years and 10 months in jail during the repeated movements for the restoration of democracy.

Deuba's wife Dr. Arju Rana is also active in politics. He is also a former MP. One of Deuba's sons, Jaybird Singh Deuba, is now in Nepal after studying in the UK.
