Jomsom: The project has stated that Rs 5.13 billion has been spent on the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project under the Kaligandaki Corridor connecting North / South. The government has been continuously upgrading roads since FY 2073/07 with the objective of connecting the North Korla border crossing of Tibet and Mustang, an autonomous region of China.

The government had prepared a cost estimate of around Rs 6 billion for the expansion of Korla road. Ashwini Kumar Yadav, project chief for the Beni-Jomsom-Korla corridor, said that 87.51 percent of the Rs 5.86 billion budget has been spent in the last five years since the road upgrade. According to him, 65 percent of physical progress has been made on Beni-Jomsom 76 km road and 85 percent on Jomsom-Korla road under Beni-Jomsom-Korla road of national pride.

Under the North / South Highway, Beni-Jomsom-Korla Road Project has been allocated Rs. 1 billion 52.52 million out of which Rs. 13 million was allocated, Rs. 1.31 billion in FY 2075/76, Rs. 1.31 billion in FY 2076/77, Rs. 90.25 million in FY 2076/77 and Rs. Under the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road of national pride, Rs. 813.2 million has been spent on road upgrading and Rs. 128.7 million on bridge construction in the fiscal year 2077/78. The budget of Rs. 228.7 million for road construction and Rs. 76.7 million for bridge construction has been frozen. Under the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project of national pride, Jomsom-Korla 76 km road is being upgraded in 4 sections and Jomsom-Korla road section in 7 packages. Similarly, about 3 dozen bridges are under construction on the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road section, contract agreement and some have been completed.

Of the seven packages of Jomsom-Korla road under the project, the work of 4 gravel road packages has been handed over to the corridor while the work of the remaining 3 packages has reached the final stage, said project chief Yadav. Similarly, the Beni-Jomsom 76 km blacktop road work has not progressed as expected due to floods/landslides and river erosion during the monsoon season and the development work of the project has been affected due to the risk of transmission of coronavirus as a global epidemic.

The project has stated that the asphalt blacktop has been completed in package 3 and 4 Mustang sections of Beni-Jomsom road within the month of October / November of the current fiscal year.
