Kathmandu: CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal has countered the statement of CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. After Rawal's resignation, Prachanda made a public statement that he had "collapsed" from the five-party alliance against regression.

Rawal's counter-question to Prachanda: Were you ready to give up if you were in our position?

Replying to a question on social media, Rawal said that he had given up to prevent the UML from splitting.

"We have contributed to the restoration of the House of Representatives and the formation of Deuwaji as PM, putting not only the parliamentary seat but also the political future at stake," he said.

He said that he was "defeated" by resigning from the House of Representatives and stood against the conspiracy to overthrow the UML. "No one has joined the alliance by splitting their party and falling in front of others," he wrote.

Leader Rawal had resigned from the House of Representatives on July 19 amid a controversy over whether to give a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

However, he withdrew his resignation on July 25.
