Preventing Dalit activists from becoming ministers, Deuba and Koirala made businessmen in Gandaki ministers

Kathmandu. Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba and General Secretary Shanshak Koirala have got vested interests to stop honest activist Dobate Bishwakarma from becoming a minister despite being in different camps.

Under his pressure, Bindukumar Thapa, a wealthy man from Pokhara, has become a minister.

VP Koirala, the founding leader of the visionary Congress, had appointed Dhaman Singh Pariyar of the Dalit community as the party's general secretary in 2009.

Since then, not only the Congress constitution but also the country's constitution has ensured inclusive, proportional representation.

But BP's successor Sher Bahadur and his son and general secretary Shanshak Koirala have sidelined Dalit activists and chosen rich businessmen as ministers.

The name of Tanahunka Dobate Bishwakarma, who is on the list to become a minister of Gandaki Pradesh, was cut off at the last minute on Saturday under the pressure of party president and prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and general secretary Koirala.

Bindukumar Thapa, a land businessman, took the oath of office in his place before reaching Dobate Pokhara. He is rich in Pokhara and is involved in the hotel and auto business along with the land business.

Meanwhile, Gandaki Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Pokhrel has also said that he has not been able to do justice to Dobate. He admitted that pressure was coming from the center in Ghumauro Para. New magazine
