Preparation of electric vehicle assembly plant in Sanamaina

Butwal. The process of construction of an assembly plant for the production of electric vehicles has started in Sainamina Municipality of Rupandehi. The assembly plant will be constructed on 10 bighas of land in Bhadsi of Sainamina Ward No. 8 and 9.

The municipality has agreed to lease land to Sundar Traders Pvt. Ltd. for 25 years for the construction of the plant. The plant is being set up in Sanamaina through Sundar Auto Engineering, a sister company of Sundar Transport.

The plant will have 49 percent investment in beautiful auto engineering and 51 percent in Chinese companies. Chief of Sainamina Municipality Chitra Bahadur Karki said that Sundar Traders Pvt. Ltd. would invest Rs. 3.60 billion in the first phase to build the assembly plant.

Karki said that the target is to assemble the vehicles from the plant by next February and start selling them within a year. Chairman of Sundar Yatayat Bhesh Bahadur Thapa said that the plant is planned to produce 300 vehicles in the first year. After that, the production will be increased every year as per the need and one thousand vehicles can be produced annually, he said.

Thapa said that all the vehicles from small to big can be made by setting up an assembly plant in one's own country and a bus would be cheaper by Rs 20 to 22 lakh instead of importing and operating an electric vehicle. Thapa said that after the construction of the assembly plant, the obligation to look abroad when vehicles break down or spare parts are needed will end.

The plant will provide employment to 300 people, according to the company. Karki said that the assembly plant would be a cornerstone in the economic development of the army as vehicles would be sold and distributed across the country and in neighboring countries.
