Olympics: China maintains lead, with 40 countries winning medals


China remains at the top for the second day in a row at the 32nd Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

As of Sunday, 29 gold, 29 silver, and 37 bronze medals have been decided. In which China won a total of 11 medals including 6 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze while remaining at the top

Hosts Japan are second in the medal tally with five gold and one silver medal.

Similarly, the United States, which is in third place, has won 10 medals including 4 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals, and remains in third place. While Korea won two gold and three bronze medals, Australia, Russia Olympic Committee, Italy, Tunisia, Ecuador, Hungary, Iran, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Austria, France and Thailand won the same number of golds.

So far, 40 countries have won medals at the Tokyo Olympics. Five athletes from Nepal have participated in the Tokyo Olympics in four games.

Among them, Kalpana Pariyar improved her performance in the 10m air rifle category but failed to reach the second round.

Similarly, Sonia Bhatt, a judoka who competed in the under 48 kg category, was knocked out in the first bout by Russian Irina Dolgova in 1 minute 16 seconds.

Gaurika Singh and Alex Shah and Saraswati Chaudhary of Athletics are now competing in swimming at the Tokyo Olympics in Nepal.

Alex will compete in the men's 100m freestyle on Tuesday and Gaurika in the women's 100m freestyle on Wednesday. Saraswati Chaudhary will compete in the women's 100-meter race on Friday.
