July 09, Kathmandu.

The task force working for unity in the CPN-UML has set another deadline for consensus on Sunday. According to the leaders, efforts will be made to reach a conclusion at the task force level by Sunday.

The second-tier leaders, who have been in informal talks for a long time and have been working at the task force level since Monday, claimed that an agreement was reached on Friday.

However, a meeting of the task force held at Singha Durbar on Saturday failed to finalize the agreement. According to a member of the task force, an agreement has been reached to return on 2 June 2075 BS and to withdraw the decisions taken after the re-establishment of the UML. Chairman KP Sharma Oli's side is also ready to remain silent on the issue of the dissolution of the House of Representatives under consideration in the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Oli faction had demanded that the signatures of 23 outgoing UML lawmakers be withdrawn. UML chairperson Oli, who is also the prime minister, had instructed to hold a meeting of the party's central committee on July 3 and withdraw the signatures by 5 pm on July 7. But the Nepali side does not agree.

Taskforce member and Nepali leader Raghuji Pant, who did not attend the meeting on Saturday, also said that he was of the view that he should not speak on the issue under consideration.

In an interview with online news, he said, "Subash Nemwangji has already said that nothing should be said about the court. In the task force, I have said, 'You were a law student and you could not say anything in the case under consideration in the court. So this is also an issue under consideration in the court, it is better not to say anything.

According to a member of the task force, President Oli's party leaders seem to agree. "We have gone to court saying that the parliament should be restored. The court will give its verdict in this regard, 'says a leader of the Nepali side in the task force.' While agreeing on the internal affairs of the party, they have not said no to the court's decision.

The task force may reach an agreement tomorrow

According to the members, efforts will be made to finalize the discussions held till tomorrow. Leaders who participated in the discussion said that a consensus could be reached at the task force level tomorrow after concluding the explanation of some of the issues on which consensus has been reached.

Giving feedback to the media after the meeting, Oli faction leader Subash Nemwang and Nepal faction leader Gokarna Bista also claimed that an agreement would be reached tomorrow.

Subash Nemwang: We have worked very hard. You will hear good news tomorrow at 8 o'clock in the morning. Calculate this, it must have been almost three years. How long have we been living in a three-year dispute today?

Gokarna Bista: We have been working for party unity in a formal and informal manner for the past few days. What were the problems of party unity? We discussed how to solve those problems by understanding each other's psychology and problems. And, we have almost come to a conclusion. We have reached the final stage. We no longer have much to discuss. We have almost reached the point of finding a solution to the problem as a whole. However, today we are not able to announce the good news. But I want to give this message to you, tomorrow we will hear the message of party unity that the common party has been waiting for. All that remains is to formalize to some extent, to reconcile some things. In other words, we almost came to a conclusion.

Discussions on power-sharing remain

According to the leaders, there has been no discussion on power-sharing in the office so far.

On Wednesday evening, Chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal discussed the issue at the Marriott Hotel but no agreement was reached. According to a member of the task force, this is an agenda for discussion between the two leaders.
