Makwanpur: Six years after the earthquake, 20 percent of the earthquake victims in Makwanpur have not built houses yet. No agreement has been reached with 2,672 beneficiaries so far.
Bimal Kishor, head of the district planning implementation unit (building) of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), Makwanpur, said that they have been sent to the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to cut the data from the list of beneficiaries. The time had come for the beneficiary to reach an agreement, understand the first and second installments and take them away. However, the NEA has asked the remaining beneficiaries to sign the agreement for the last time and set a deadline of mid-November to build the house.
Out of the total 38,459 beneficiaries in Makwanpur, 35,787 families had signed grant agreements to build private houses. Of them, 26,877 families, or 80.5 percent beneficiaries have built houses till Sunday. According to NEA, 35,776 (98 percent) beneficiaries have signed the first installment. There are 30,966 beneficiaries in the second installment and 28,972 in the third installment.
The NEA has said that the money taken for the construction of private houses should be returned if the house is not built and if it is not returned, it will be recovered by bringing it under the law. So far, 24 beneficiaries have returned the money in Makwanpur. Similarly, there are 9,541 beneficiaries of house strengthening. Of them, grant agreements have been signed with only 7,404 people. Of them, 7,397 have already taken the first installment. However, the number of those taking the second installment is only 195, the unit said.
