Dhangadhi: Police have failed to bring the accused in the Nirmala Pant case, who was murdered after being raped in Kanchanpur, to justice for three years.
It has been three years since Nirmala went missing on Sunday and three years since she was found dead on Monday. But the police are confused about the name of the investigation. The reality of the mystery of the Pant case has not been revealed yet.
Nirmala's family members have said that they have lost hope of getting justice after the killer was not found for three years. "Those involved in the killings are still openly circulating," she said. "We have not received justice because the police have not shown any interest in bringing the perpetrators to justice."
Durga says that her hope of getting justice has died after she was not arrested for three years. "After the investigation into the murder of Baitadi teenager Bhagarathi was successful, the team of Kanchanpur police chief had reached the house," said Durga. But now there is no indication that the culprit will be arrested. But if the police have the will to take action against the culprits, we are 100 percent sure that we will get justice.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Umaprasad Chaturvedi of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur said that the investigation into Nirmala's murder was ongoing. "A joint dedicated team of District Police Office, Kanchanpur, State Police and National Investigation is investigating the incident," he said.
Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Siddharaj Neupane said that three teams were active in the investigation of Nirmala's murder. "Investigation of the Nirmala incident is still a priority of the police," he said. "A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation, the state police office, and the district police office are investigating." He said that more than a thousand people have been interrogated in Nirmala's murder so far. He added, "About a hundred DNA tests have been done. But, not a single match. '
Such was the case
Nirmala, who had gone to her friend Roshni's house to do her homework, did not return home. When he did not return home till late evening, the search for him began. The next morning, she was found dead in a sugarcane field near the border of Bhimdatta Municipality-18 and 2. According to the nature of the body and the autopsy report, Nirmala was found murdered after being raped.
Dilip Bista was made public on August 20, 2075, saying that Nirmala was raped and murdered by the police. After making public Bista, who is not in a good mental condition, an agitation broke out against the Kanchanpur police saying that a fake was set up to save the real killer.
After the agitation escalated, 14-year-old Sonny Khunna of Bhimdatta Municipality-18 was shot dead, and more than a dozen others were injured. He was released after his DNA was not matched.
The then Chief Superintendent of Police 9SP Dilliraj Bisht and Chief Inspector of Police of the Ward Police Office Jagdish Prasad Bhat were also sacked on the charge of negligence in the investigation and destruction of evidence.
The Home Ministry had also suspended the then CIB DSP Angur GC, then-District Police Office DSP Gyan Bahadur Sethi, Inspector of Police Ekendra Khadka, Deputy Inspector of Police Ram Singh Dhami, Harsingh Dhami, and police constable Chandni Saud. However, the suspension has now been lifted after he was acquitted by the court of destroying evidence and petitioning.
A high-level committee formed by the Home Ministry, the National Human Rights Commission, a human rights organization, and a committee headed by the then DIG of the Police Headquarters, Dhiru Basnyat, had prepared separate reports on the incident.
