Kathmandu. Newly-appointed Minister of State for Health Umesh Shrestha has claimed that he is building a hospital with better service and lower fees than the government.
He has been campaigning to build a hospital chain with an investment of Rs 500 million since this year, he claimed at a meeting of the Education and Health Committee of the Parliament on Monday.
"The government is trying to set up a service hospital. However, due to lack of resources, I have tried to set up some hospitals with the service spirit that at least the people who can do it. Where there are more service facilities and less money than the government. I have tried to run those hospitals with a pure service spirit ', he said in the parliamentary committee.
However, the condition of the hospital run by Minister of State Shrestha is not as he claimed. He is currently running Janamitri Hospital and Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Memorial Hospital in Kathmandu.
These hospitals have more expensive service fees than government hospitals and teaching hospitals. These hospitals are also within the hospital chain started by Shrestha.
If a normal bed is available free of cost at Bir Hospital, you have to pay Rs 250 at the Teaching Hospital, but you have to pay Rs 700 for the same bed at Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Hospital and Rs 300 at Janamitri Hospital.
