Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal did not come to an agreement even though he was ready to become the second chairman.

Addressing a meeting of the party's central committee on Wednesday, Oli said he was flexible enough to work for party unity. "Efforts for unity are continuing till the end," he said. "I am committed to implementing the 10-point agreement."

He said that if there is unity in the party, all the structures will be operational from June 20. Leader Nepal demanded that he be made the second chairman for party unity and said that he was ready for that to the members of the task force.

"I have said that if Madhav comes to Nepal to save the party unity, I am ready to give a second chairman," Oli said. "Even more, there is no desire for unity. Many excuses have been sought." They are saying that a majority is needed in the central committee. Why Get us out of the party? '

According to a central member, Oli called the vote of confidence in Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba an immoral, apolitical and criminal act. He said earlier, "I am still wondering if I can get some ghee even if it is in the foam." There is no stinginess for unity. '

According to the leaders of the then task force, which reached a 10-point agreement for the unity of the UML on July 12, the proposal to make Nepal the second president had reached Nepal through formal and informal channels. But there was no more credible basis for that. Nepal's analysis was that this could have been said only to get the signatures of the UML MPs on the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives pending in the Supreme Court.

On 28 July, the Supreme Court not only reconstituted the parliament but also ordered Sher Bahadur Deuba, who had garnered the support of 149 lawmakers, including 23 from the CPN-UML, to become the prime minister. On 3 July, 22 UML MPs, including leader Nepal, crossed the floor and gave a vote of confidence to Deuba.

Oli has asked 22 MPs for a 24-hour explanation on the same issue, in which nothing has been said about the floor cross. But there are allegations of factionalism within the party, aiding the opposition coalition.

The Nepal group, on the other hand, said that an explanation was sought to undermine the party's unity efforts. He also urged to stop the sloganeering against the lawmakers crossing the floor including Madhav Nepal and take serious initiative for unity.

Leaders of the Nepal Group have also said that discussions could be held if Chairman Oli sticks to the proposal of giving a second chairman. However, some leaders of the Oli faction have indicated that they will not abide by the Supreme Court's decision.
