In the controversy over Rabindra Mishra's proposal, the Federation of Indigenous Tribes protested

The Federation of Indigenous Tribes of Nepal has said that the proposal to abolish federalism and hold a referendum on secularism is unconstitutional.

Rabindra Mishra, coordinator of the Vibekshil Saja Party, on Monday, unveiled a personal proposal for a referendum on the abolition of federalism and secularism.

Chairman of the Federation of Indigenous Peoples of Nepal Jagat Bahadur Baram has stated in a statement that the proposal is against the constitution.

The federation has also urged the government of Nepal to take action against anyone who goes against the constitution, nationality, republic, federalism, secularism, the principle of proportional inclusion, and the Nepali people.

"Otherwise, the Nepali people will take action," the federation warned in a statement.

According to Baram, the federation has strongly condemned the abolition of federalism and secularism.

"The Federation of Indigenous Peoples of Nepal is of the view that making such statements under the top leadership of a political party which is supposed to make the country a modern Nepal progressively is unconstitutional, anti-political and anti-national," said Baram.

The federation also says that evil deeds are being done to discredit federalism.

"According to the essence and spirit of federalism, work is being done at the state and local levels in line with the aspirations of the people," the federation said.
