Five drowned in a canal in Banke and Chitwan


Kathmandu. Five people have drowned in canals in Banke and Chitwan. Three died in Banke and two in Chitwan.

According to police, three youths who had gone to Kohalpur from Nepalgunj in Banke to have fun on the occasion drowned in a canal at Duduwa Khola in Kohalpur Municipality-10.

The deceased have been identified as Arib Jasgarh, 16, Arman Jasgarh, 17, and Rasid Jasgarh, 18, of Sadar Line. Police said that two others were rescued from the spot.

Two killed in Chitwan blast

Similarly, 16-year-old Ankit Joshi and 14-year-old Vivek Sharma of Bharatpur Mahanagarpalika-2 Kshetrapur of Chitwan also drowned in the canal.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, Vivek slipped and fell into the canal while washing his hands and feet while playing cricket in the open field of Kshetrapur at around 4 pm on Wednesday. Ankit has also swept away while trying to rescue his friend who fell into the canal.

He was rescued from the canal 200 meters away and brought to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment. He died at the hospital in the evening, police said.
