Jomsom: Locals say two local levels of the upper Mustang, which borders China's autonomous region of Tibet, have not been vaccinated against corona.
Residents of the border areas, who have been anxiously waiting for the vaccine, have been wondering when the vaccine will come and get it.
In the Himalayan district of Mustang, 6,500 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was administered only once on the 3rd of last month, were administered. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was sent to the District Health Office Mustang through the Ministry of Social Development in Gandaki.
The Pokhara-Jomsom air service has not been operating for a long time due to the Corona disaster and floods, landslides and river erosion have blocked the Beni-Jomsom 76 km Myagdi section of the road.
The vaccine was delivered to Xanten Mustang with the help of some workers including Indra Singh Sherchan, Supervisor of Kaligand Corridor. The American Johnson & Johnson 6,500 Than Corona vaccine is now in the District Health Office Mustang.
Residents of the border area in Upper Mustang are worried as the concerned bodies have not been able to carry out the Johnson & Johnson vaccination program against Corona even on the fifth day of Mustang entry. Jyampa Gurung of Ghami of Damodarkund Gaonpalika-2 in Loghekar of Mustang said that the people who are hoping to be vaccinated against corona should be provided vaccine as soon as possible.
"It has been heard that 6,500 vaccines have arrived in Mustang, but there is no vaccination campaign here," he added. He said that even though only people above 55 years of age in the border areas have been vaccinated with Covishield and Veroshield, two-thirds of the people are yet to be vaccinated.
Earlier, employees, people's representatives, journalists, security forces, and people above 55 years of age have already applied the first and second dose of Covishield against Corona in Mustang. However, educational institutions, banks and financial institutions, tourism entrepreneurs, farmers, and the general public have not been allowed to get vaccinated against corona, said Pramita Thakali, a public interest teacher. She said that initiatives should be taken to make people's lives easier by providing vaccines as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the District Health Office, Mustang, has collected data on vaccination of citizens above 18 years of age but clarified that it has been delayed to vaccinate the citizens who have reached the district as per the government's directive. He informed that the vaccination program has come to a halt as the government has directed to vaccinate the citizens between the ages of 50 and 54.
He claimed that the vaccine available to the Mustang could reach 90 percent of the population. He said, "The vaccination program has been delayed due to technical reasons. We will deliver the vaccine to all the municipalities within a few days."
