Congress ward level convention postponed due to active membership dispute

The ward-level convention of the Nepali Congress has been postponed. The agenda of the Congress was to hold a ward-level convention from July 27.

A meeting of Congress office-bearers and former office-bearers on Saturday postponed the ward convention, said spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma.

He said that the ward convention could not be held on the scheduled date due to a dispute over the distribution of active membership.

The investigation report of active membership is being submitted on July 27. Sharma said that the convention would be concluded only after the investigation committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak submitted the report.

"A new date is set after the report is submitted, but moving to a ward convention could affect all levels," Sharma said.

The general convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) has been scheduled for September 30. Sharma said a new date would be set so as not to affect it.
