Kathmandu. Yang Qian of China has won the first gold of the ongoing Tokyo Olympics in Japan. She won gold in the women's 10m air rifle event.
Yang, 21, overtook Anastasia Galacina of the Russian Olympic Committee. Galasina won the silver. Similarly, Nina Kristen of Switzerland came third and won a bronze medal.
China's Yang even set an Olympic record score of 251.8 as she won gold. Galasina scored 151.1.
Yang, who competed in the Olympics for the first time, was awarded the medal by International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bak after winning his first gold medal in Tokyo 2020.
