Alex's national record at the Tokyo Olympics failed to reach the previous stage

KATHMANDU: Nepali swimmer Alexander Shah Alex has crossed the hit stage in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics in Japan. Alex has crossed the hit stage by setting a new national record in the men's 100m freestyle.

Alex covered a distance of 100 meters in 53.41 seconds. Earlier, he had set a national record of 55.38 seconds.

In the 100-meter freestyle, Alex finished 59th out of 71 athletes. He has failed to reach the semifinals.

Gaurika Singh of Pauri is playing on Wednesday. Earlier, two Nepali shooting and judo players were eliminated from the preliminary round.
