Saptari. Around 400 houses have been inundated due to the collapse of the country's old Chandranhar dill, which is dilapidated due to incessant rains and floods in various rivers.

According to Uttam Gautam, chief of Saptakoshi Municipality, Ward No. 4, Balarda, 400 houses were inundated when two deals of Chandranhar collapsed.

According to Gautam, the head of the municipality, the dilapidated Chandranhar deal has collapsed due to the overflow of various rivers and streams after incessant rains. He said, “There was an overflow of water in the canal due to incessant rains. Floods in rivers and streams also caused problems. About 400 houses in the area have been inundated after the canal collapsed.

The floods have caused a rapid overflow of water in Chandranhar and caused damage in various places. He said that the canal was about to collapse in Mahadeva Gaonpalika-4 as well. He said, 'To save the canal, the locals are trying to stop it by putting soil. This canal cannot be stopped from collapsing due to continuous rains.

Local Pintu Yadav said that there was a danger of flooding hundreds of houses around Mahadeva Gaonpalika-4 if the canal collapsed.

This Chandranhar was constructed from the then Fatehpur VDC of Saptari to Pakari VDC during the reign of Chandrashamsher. Starting from the Triyuga river, this canal flows into the Khando river.

Mayor Gautam said that the possibility of further flooding has increased in the southern part of Saptari due to continuous rains.
